Here are just a couple of things you might want to customize: The NeckGenerally speaking, most electric guitars are built by bolting the neck onto the body. This works, and obviously the sound it produces is pretty good, too. But when you design a custom electric guitar, you may choose instead to have it built such that the neck extends all the way into the depths of the body of the instrument, thereby completely eliminating the need to bolt it into place. This would definitely enhance the vibration and sound produced by the instrument. Magnetic pickupsIn the typical electric guitar you buy already manufactured, the magnetic pickups are loosely suspended under the strings on plastic pickup rings. One custom designer bolts the magnetic pickups directly onto the neck. This results in better stability and internal cohesion of the instrument. The difference in sound that this can make in terms of tone, resonance, and sustainability is dramatic. These are just a couple of possible areas of customization.
