Line 6 Spider Valve gets tones like Hiwatt, Marshall, Fender, VOX, Mesa/Boogie, and Orange; as well as some boutique brands (other than Bogner) like Diezel. my concern is, "Can a brother get some tones?" The answer is yes. My personal favorites tend toward the cleaner side, and the Clean, Twang, and Class A models each supplied a warm, responsive sound with plenty of the "give" that is often lacking in modeling amps.
The Marshall's Lead gain is a very thought-out gain boost that does not dirty up the pure signal or create lots of noise. The clean sounds on this amplifier are so round and delicious, I needed to linger there for a minimum of 3 or 4 minutes before I actually jumped into this whole "20" thing. After I did, it was sheer blissful joy. All of a sudden I was Townshend blasting all through "My Era at Leads; I was Hendrix blaring "Star Spangled Banner" at Woodstock '69. I was in my element of delight.

The Classic 6 from VHT comes complete with two controls, Tone and Volume, and also has low and high inputs. The power amp is a 6V6 model, while the pream is a single 12AX7 tube. VHT particularly talks up the versaitility of the amp here, citing its supposed ability to mimic both a British amp and a classic American tube amp. We’ll let readers be the judge. Also heralded is the simplicity of the amp design, with the tone control options allowing for quick adjustments and easy manipulation of harmonics.
